Stop Running on Empty: How to Tap Into God’s Unlimited Source

Mar 18, 2025

Many people are exhausted from chasing success, joy, and peace—only to feel like they’re constantly running on empty. They turn to self-help books, hustle culture, and worldly wisdom, hoping to find fulfillment. But no matter how much they achieve, something is always missing.

What if the reason you feel drained is because you’ve been drinking from the wrong source?

Why the World’s Formula Always Falls Short

The world tells us:
Success brings happiness
You must hustle for fulfillment
You’re in control of your destiny

But here’s the truth: Anything built on a worldly foundation will eventually collapse.

Jesus said in John 4:14, “But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

Worldly success runs dry, but God’s source never does.

The Illusion of Self-Sufficiency

One of the biggest reasons people struggle to let go of the world’s way is because they crave control. The world says, “Follow this plan, and you’ll create the life you want.” But God says, “Trust me, and I will lead you to a life bigger than you can imagine.”

Ephesians 3:20 reminds us:
"God can do anything, far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams."

Trying to control everything will only keep you small. Letting go and trusting God is what truly allows you to soar.

Surrendering Opens the Door to More

Surrendering to God doesn’t mean playing small—it means stepping into something GREATER.

John 3:30 says, “He must become greater; I must become less.” This doesn’t mean you shrink—it means you align your purpose with God’s plan.

When you let God take the lead:
You don’t lose yourself—you find your true self.
You don’t have to strive—His blessings flow naturally.
You don’t settle—you step into more than you ever imagined.

Real-Life Example: Denzel Washington’s Faith-Fueled Success

Denzel Washington is one of the most respected actors of our time. His success is undeniable, but what most people don’t realize is that his career is built on faith in God.

Before he became famous, a woman prophesied over him, saying, “You will preach to millions.” At the time, he laughed. But today, through his work, influence, and public faith, he’s doing exactly that.

His success isn’t just from talent or hard work—it’s because he is plugged into the source.

How to Shift from Striving to Thriving

If you’re ready to stop running on empty and start receiving God’s abundance, here’s what you can do:

Stop relying on limited sources (money, success, validation). They all run dry.
Let go of what’s draining you. Ask: What am I striving for that keeps leaving me empty?
Swap self-help for God’s help. Instead of striving, start seeking.

This week, try this: Swap 10 minutes of scrolling for 10 minutes of stillness with God. Simply sit, pray, and say:

"God, I don’t even know if I believe in You fully, but I’m open. If You’re real, show me."
