Easter Explained: What the Bible Is Really About and Why It Matters

Apr 20, 2025

Happy Easter! 🌿 If you’re new to faith or curious about Jesus, today’s message might just be the clarity your heart’s been searching for.

Let’s make it simple.

The Bible isn’t just a big, old book. It’s a love story—written by God, for you.

What Is the Bible?

Think of it like a bookshelf with 66 small books inside, split into two major sections:

  • The Old Testament – Everything before Jesus

  • The New Testament – Everything after Jesus comes

These two halves tell one big story: God making a way back to you.

What's the Problem the Bible Tries to Solve?

One word: sin.

But not the way you think.

Sin isn’t just bad behavior. It’s anything that separates you from God. Fear. Anger. Jealousy. Bitterness. Shame. Comparison.

God is perfect. We were created in His image—perfect too. But when sin entered the world, our relationship with God was fractured. We started carrying things we were never meant to carry.

The Old Covenant vs. The New Covenant

In the Old Testament, people had to follow a set of laws and perform rituals to temporarily cover their sins. But it never changed their hearts. Sin remained.

So God made a new way.

He sent His son, Jesus.

Why Did Jesus Die?

Because sin had to be paid for—and we couldn’t pay it. Only someone perfect could. Jesus became the perfect Lamb, living a sinless life, and then choosing to die in our place.

And on Easter? He rose again.

Sin defeated.
Shame defeated.
Death defeated.

Now, anyone who believes in Him is declared sinless and can have a direct relationship with God.

What Happens When You Believe?

  • You’re forgiven, completely.

  • The Holy Spirit begins to live inside you.

  • Your heart starts to change.

  • You live with peace, purpose, and power.

  • You launch the life God always designed for you.

You don’t need to clean yourself up first. You just need to say, “God, I want to know You.”

That’s it. He’ll do the rest.
